How & Why i self-funded & self-produced the music video project of my dreams

What a RIDE! 🥹 For as accomplishment-leaning as social media can be, I wanted to pull the curtain back on what it actually takes to execute things like this, at least at the level I’m currently at. 😌🎬⬇️

As a beginner novice in the Video world 3 years ago I had no clue where to begin, but knew I needed to TRY. So now on the other side — 3 heartbreaks, dozens of failures, ~$6,000, 400+ hours of work, and 3 years later — we sure did go for it. 😉❤️‍🔥🎬

A work of passion that had been simmering for almost a decade, my soul fully needed to birth this project. I couldn’t have done it without that conviction needed to bring something like this to life.

Because of the deeper meaning, & bigger purpose of this project, every single team member involved in any of the scenes, completely donated their time & efforts to make this happen.

The bulk of the financial cost was flying my core team out to San Diego for a week & covering the costs of housing us all in an AirBnB while we were shooting.

I shot on extraordinarily beginner equipment, base level knowledge of gear, & just a full heart for the story to bring it to life.

I wrote, produced, directed, shot, edited, & planned every aspect of this by myself 😅 I’ve learned A LOT about film sets in the past year which I’m SO excited to build out bigger teams in the future so I don’t have to spread myself so thin 😂 it took around 400ish hours in total over the past 3 years to make this happen on my end ⏰

AND — I was supported greatly by the many humans who contributed & so generously donated their energy to making this happen. No WAY I could’ve done any of this without their skills ❤️‍🔥 [full credits in comment]

We did not profit from this project, all donations from our Purple Party and Release Party events went directly to CO Crisis Services suicide prevention hotline. 💸

The entire road was filled with challenges & roadblocks that forced me to grow & learn — & I’m so grateful. I know so much more now because I tried.

While the final result isn’t the most technically proficient project ever, it will forever be the most special example to me of what’s possible when you go after your dreams. 🥰🤍🎬🌊✨
